Dr. Alshami takes pride in building strong, trusting relationships with his patients and their families. He believes that every child deserves individualized care tailored to their unique needs—especially those with special health care considerations. His minimally invasive approach, rooted in prevention and education, helps children feel comfortable and engaged throughout their treatment journey.
With over a decade of dental experience, Dr. Alshami has provided care in both private practice and public health settings. He is passionate about improving access to care and has volunteered extensively both locally and abroad, including work with the Give Kids a Smile program and outreach missions in Ecuador. His ability to connect with children from all backgrounds is a hallmark of his compassionate approach.
Dr. Alshami earned his dental degree in Egypt, followed by advanced general dentistry training at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. After three years in private practice, he relocated to the United States, where he completed his pediatric dental residency at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry and served as Chief Resident. He continued on to complete a two-year fellowship in pediatric dentistry, treating underserved populations and mentoring residents.

While clinical care remains the heart of his work, Dr. Alshami also values education and leadership. He serves as a part-time faculty member at the University of Maryland, teaching dental students and pediatric dental residents, and contributes to statewide dental standards as a sedation examiner and Executive Board member of the Maryland Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Alshami is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Maryland Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Outside the office, he enjoys hiking, traveling, working out, and playing soccer.
Whether caring for toddlers at their first visit or helping teens navigate orthodontic needs, Dr. Alshami’s goal is always the same: to make every child feel safe, seen, and excited to smile.
