The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) now recommends scheduling your child’s first dental visit by their first birthday or within six months after their first tooth appears.

From the very beginning, we’ll guide you through the best ways to care for your child’s teeth and gums. During the appointment, we will:

• Share tips to make brushing and flossing fun and effective at home
• Talk about habits such as pacifier use, thumb-sucking, and bottle use
• Answer any questions you may have about your child’s oral health

Preparing for Your Child’s Appointment

To help us make your visit smooth and efficient please:

• Complete your child’s new patients forms electronically in your patient portal
• Bring your child’s insurance card to the appointment
• Bring favorite toy, blanket, or comfort item if it helps your child feel relaxed

Tips for a Positive First Experience

• Schedule morning appointments when young children are usually well-rested.
• Talk about the dentist in positive, simple terms—avoid words like “hurt” or “shot.”
• Read a fun children’s book about visiting the dentist together before the appointment.
